a single mom who would love to be married to a wonderful man

Title: Heartfull Healer, Social Architect

Gender: Female

Age: 49

Sun Sign: Sagittarius

Chinese Sign: Earth Dog

Location: Newton, MA United States

About Me:

I am a body psychotherapist, lifework counselor, social architect, writer and mom. As a young child, I had a deeply rooted sense of life mission, and when I was 16, a stranger tried to rape and murder me, forcing me to literally choose life.
The attempted rape/murder turned out to be a real turning point for me. In spite of the fact that I was recognized as a natural leader as a very young child, and was put into leadership positions by both adults and my peers, I was afraid to fully come forth with my mission-directed self, because the model I received as a very small child was that visionary leaders were shot. Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were each assasinated when I was very young.

When the stranger tried to rape and murder me, I realized that life is very fragile and precious, and it is a privilege that can be taken away from us in a heartbeat. I turned to the God I was never raised to believe in, and said, “I want to live.” The voice I heard back told me that to live, I had to commit to my mission. I told God I committed, and a small voice came into my heart, and said I needed to forgive the man who was trying to rape and murder me.

Without using my head to analyze or even understand what that meant, I spoke right from the heart, and said, “I forgive you.” The man burst into tears and stopped beating me. And metaphorically, became my first body psychotherapy client.

It was then that I began to realize the power of the heart, and began both my deeper healing process, spiritual journey, and educational path towards understanding and learning to apply the power of the heart for healing and health.

I have two Ivy league degrees, and have been a pioneer my whole life. I have founded and co-founded many organizations–from Yale’s third a capella singing group my freshman year to an artists’ roundtable that allowed artists to both connect with one another and bring their true work to the public, to a spirit in business organization, an institute for Gaian economics, a body psychotherapy training program and an educational organization that offers programs exploring what it means to integrate sexuality and spirituality.

I have written two books (LIVING WITH VISION: RECLAIMING THE POWER OF THE HEART (Knowledge Systems, Inc, 1989) and HEALING THE WAR BETWEEN THE GENDERS: THE POWER OF THE SOUL-CENTERED RELATIONSHIP (HeartPowerPress, 2004)), countless articles, and now an e-newsletter.

I have a wonderful son, entering 6th grade as I write this entry, and treasure the opportunity to be his mom. Sadly, I have been a single mom most of his life, and that is not a path I would have consciously chosen, had I truly a change to design my life.

I am deeply committed to sustainable relationships, and wish our culture valued relationships more highly in this day and age. I believe in living a simple, balanced, healthy life, and make it a point to do so. I love four-legged animals, music (singing and dancing), and connecting with interesting and sincere people
